In 1968, the Athletics moved to Oakland, California, and have been based there ever since. The team has experienced significant success in Oakland, winning three World Series championships in 1972, 1973, and 1974, as well as two more in 1989 and 1990. The team has also produced some of the greatest players in baseball history, including Hall of Famers Dennis Eckersley, Rickey Henderson, and Jason Giambi.

Jason Giambi: A former American League MVP who played for the Athletics from 1995 to 2001 and again in 2009. Dennis Eckersley: A Hall of Fame pitcher who played for the Athletics from 1987 to 1995.
